JUNE is invented by Maya Kiran Ramdihal (35), a Dutch writer, editor and Spain travel coordinator with a background in audiovisual media. Born in Amsterdam to Indian Caribbean parents, she has lived in Surinam, Amsterdam, Germany and since 2007 in Barcelona, Spain. She moved in 2010 to Granada. Fascinated by bohemian live and a love for getting lost in strange cities, travelling has been the biggest inspiration to writing.

Backed by a great belief in cooincidence, she always seems to run into the right people at the right place that helped her discover the soul of a city. Knowing that it’s these encounters of countless beauty that make a difference in a trip, she thought of setting up a service through which travellers can encounter local people. Whether it’s travelling alone or with someone else to cities for either work or holiday, knowing the right people gets you to enter a city on a far more personal level then scratching the surface with a guide or book.

The people you’ll meet are people that are not dedicated to tourism. They have real life jobs next to working with JUNE.

Some of the are the people Maya met in Granada and that showed her the way. Above anything they are friendly, outgoing and interested in meeting people from other cultures.

This concept is all about having a good time &opening up your mind to other cultures, about leaving  the ‘tourist’ role & simply being you in another context while experience another way of life. Even just for one moment. Because it’s those unexpected encounters, twists and turns that make travelling and life in general memorable.
